‘Hit Monkey’ Returns!? Hulu Series Renewed For A Second Season
by Erik Amaya
Somehow, Hit-Monkey survived.
Deadline reports the animated series has been renewed for a second season. Based on characters created by Daniel Way and Dalibor Talajić, the series, executive produced by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, centers on a Japanese snow monkey who teams up with the ghost of an American assassin to kill their way through the Yakuza underworld after his tribe is slaughtered. The second season will shift locales to San Francisco.
The program was part of a joint venture between the now-defunct Marvel Television and Hulu to bring some more obscure Marvel Comics characters to a shared animated reality. In the end, only Hit-Monkey and M.O.D.O.K. made it to air. And when the latter was cancelled, most assumed Hit-Monkey was also done. But wonders never cease with its voice cast — including Olivia Munn, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Tatasciore, and Ally Maki — returning and Leslie Jones joining the group as an as-yet undisclosed character.
It is unclear when the second season will air. For the moment, just be stunned that the program will continue.
