Preview: ‘Schitt’s Creek’s’ Emily Hampshire And Z2 Comics Present ‘Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch’

Coming in April, Z2 Comics and the star of Schitt’s Creek, Emily Hampshire, bring you this tale of an underdog enchantress with Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch.

We showed you a little of this back when it was announced, but now we’ve got hold of more preview artwork to share with you… so we shall, cause we’re nice like that.

Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch deals with the least-favourite daughter of L.A.’s most famous family of witches, the Aierwoods.

Think the Kardashians but with magic, where every one of Amelia’s sisters have followed in their famous parents’ footsteps. Unfortunately, Amelia isn’t quite so blessed with magic. She’s a late bloomer whose magic is… well, underwhelming, and even when she just uses it for the most mundane of things, things misfire. Which is why she has the terminally unfashionable witch’s hat stuck to her head and why her adopted brother, Spaghetti, has been transformed into a Yeti.

Yes, Amelia would rather be at home eating pop-tarts and listening to her favourite true-crime podcast than out there representing the premier witching family in the USA. And frankly, given her underwhelming magical abilities, that’s okay with the rest of the family too. So, when the Aierwood’s decide to take their fame to the next level with a reality show, they take the harsh decision to exclude poor Amelia.

So, with the family going one way, it’s time for Amelia to find her own path.

When I saw this for the first time I said it sounded and looked rather a delight, and having had the chance to look at it now, it’s definitely delightful, full of witchy hi-jinks

Z2 Comics and Emily Hampshire present Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch comes out in softcover and hardcover formats on 11 Aoril, plus oversized hardcover deluxe edition and an oversized hardcover deluxe edition hand-signed by Emily Hampshire, both available from the Z2 website. The deluxe editions include prints featuring artwork by Gudsnuk, Shae Beagle, Cara McGee, Dominique Roses, Fred Stressing, Tammy Wang, and Jarrett Williams.
