‘2000 AD’ Legend And ‘Halo Jones’ Co-Creator Ian Gibson’s ‘Lifeboat’ To Be Published By UK Indie Publisher The 77
by Richard Bruton
Ian Gibson, the legendary co-creator of Halo Jones has finally found a home for his long-awaited graphic novel series Lifeboat.

Announced on the old socials at the weekend, The 77 Publications, publishers of (duh) The 77, Blazer, Pandora, and This Comic is Haunted have announced that they’re going to be publishing Ian Gibson‘s long-teased project Lifeboat.
Yes. THAT Ian Gibson. Co-creator of Halo Jones with Alan Moore and The Chronicles of Genghis Grimtoad with John Wagner and Alan Grant, plus plentiful work over the years including Judge Dredd, Robo-Hunter, Mister Miracle, Green Lantern Corps, and Steed & Mrs Peel.
Now, we’ve been seeing a lot of Lifeboat over the last year at Gibson’s Facebook page and it’s understood that the first graphic novel is complete. All that Gibson was looking for was a publisher – and now it appears that he’s found one in The 77. We don’t know anything more than that as yet. It’s certainly the biggest and most high-profile project that the publisher have taken on thus far. They usually go to Kickstarter for their projects so we’re expecting announcements to come nearer the time they’re ready to pull the trigger on that one.
For more as it develops, there’s Ian Gibson’s Facebook, the 77 Facebook, and take a look at the excellent Imagination of Ian Gibson FB group.
In the meantime, here’s a few of the pages Gibson’s been putting up on Facebook over the last few months… mostly unlettered and not necessarily in the right order…
