‘Harley Quinn’ Season 4, Episode 3 Review

It was fairly inevitable that Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) would suffer trouble in this new phase of their relationship. Harley is transitioning towards becoming a hero while Ivy has to up her cred as a villain now that she’s in charge of the Legion of Doom. In the first two episodes, their differences were fairly superficial and didn’t rock the two boat too much. The third installment of Harley Quinn‘s third season changes that as Harley tries to reconcile her growing conscience with her old lifestyle.

Harley is still trying to earn the respect of the Bat-Family, but Ivy wants to go to Las Vegas to see Clayface (Alan Tudyk) perform. They stay in a resort that is notorious for villains. Harley feels very weird being seen there because she is now a hero. She tries to get around this conundrum by creating a fake persona to be a villain. It’s working until Clayface chastises Ivy for not getting tickets to his show sooner. This results in a brutal battle between the two, leaving Harley to do damage control.

There were a lot of fun moments this episode. The fight between Poison Ivy and Clayface was definitely a highlight. The great thing about this show is that it’s absolutely ridiculous comedy, but it doesn’t forget that it’s also a superhero show. There are tons of super-powered battles and other super human gimmicks that make the show immensely entertaining. On a character front, this was just the first step in the problems that Ivy and Harley are going to face. There are certainly more to come even if this was fairly low stakes in the grand scheme of things … but more terrible issues are likely on their way.
