Firefly is set to return to comics this November from BOOM! Studios. This week the publisher began a five part spotlight on the debut with #MalCrushMonday, revealing a new variant cover by J.G. Jones showcasing the crew of the spaceship Serenity.
Written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Dan McDaid, Firefly is set to reveal the history of this universe that has captivated fans for years. Creator Joss Whedon is on board as a story consultant as the new comic dives into the Unification War, the intergalactic civil war that divided friend and family alike.
Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, Boom! Studios says:
Firefly has some of the best fans in the world and so we knew that meant recruiting some of the best artists on the planet to deliver stunning covers to this new series. J.G. Jones has brought to life some of the biggest heroes on the planet through his work in comics – but none as shiny as the crew of the Serenity.
Firefly #1 is set for release on November 14th, 2018. In addition to the J.G. Jones cover, the issue will also feature a main cover by Lee Garbett and other variants by Jock, Bill Sienkiewicz, Joe Quinones, and more. I’m betting we’ll see a few of these in the coming weeks.
