Get A First Glimpse Of Anime Viking Action Series ‘Vinland Saga’

by Sage Ashford

The first trailer of Wit Studio’s adaptation of Makoto Yukimura’s historical action series, Vinland Saga, has finally surfaced. Originally published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine before switching to their seinen collection Monthly Afternoon, Vinland Saga follows the viking Thorfinn as a member of Askeladd’s mercenary vikings.  While Askeladd’s group mostly only care about pillaging, Thorfinn is chasing revenge against the man who killed his father, Askeladd himself. Lacking the strength to do so in a fair duel, he works with Askeladd and their group to train and earn the fight to eventually slay the man who ruined his family.

Known for its ability to merge actual historical figures with its own version of events, Vinland Saga is viewed as a more realistic version of Berserk. (Hopefully it’s adaptation will be better than Berserk’s, as well.) Currently, Vinland Saga has no firm window for its premiere, but is meant to come out in 2019.
