Following the premiere of DC Super Hero Girls on Cartoon Network, DC Comics has announced the continuation of the graphic novel series with new stories written by Amy Wolfram. The first book, DC Super Hero Girls: At Metropolis High, is illustrated by Yancey Labat and follows Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Bumblebee, and Zatanna as they try to balance their super hero duties with their extracurricular activities.
Writer Amy Wolfram says:
I’m very excited to be working on DC Super Hero Girls. Not only do we get to see these iconic superheroes in action as they protect Metropolis, we also get to peek behind the masks and capes to see their secret identities as they deal with an even greater challenge–being a teenager in high school!
The DC Super Hero Girls graphic novels will be published under DC’s new middle grade publishing imprint, DC Zoom. I’m so excited for this imprint to get going as it’s full of possibilities for a new, younger audience to dig into all kinds of super heroes.
Artist Yancey Labat added:
I’m so excited to work with Amy on this new series. The new look is fun to draw. The characters are very expressive and over-the-top, and I love the zaniness and looseness of the designs.
DC Super Hero Girls: At Metropolis High is set for release on October 9th, 2019 in comic shops and on October 15th, 2019 at book stores and Amazon. It will retail for $9.99.
