First Look PV: Lupin III: The Lie Of Fujiko Mine

by Sage Ashford

The familiar cast of Lupin the III makes a return in a new film, Lupin the IIIRD: The Lie of Fujiko Mine, and TMS Entertainment has the first trailer for the film available now. This is the third in a series of films that began with Daisuke Jigen’s Gravestone and continued with Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood in 2014 and 2017, respectively.  Takeshi Koike returns to direct and design the characters, while Yuya Takahashi (Lupin III: Part IV) will be handling the scripting issues.  Telecom Animation Film is the studio in charge of animation.

Though it doesn’t quite look it, hopefully this film will hearken back to the feel of the 2012 series, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, even if it does seem like the story will be feature the cast as a whole, with Fujiko taking on the lead role once again. If nothing else, it does have Takeshi Koike, who was also responsible for that series’ character design as well.

The Lie of Fujiko Mine premieres in Japanese theaters on May 31st.
