Love, Death, And Robots: ‘The Dump’ Analysis

by Tito W. James

This episode of Love, Death, and Robots mixes photorealistic detail with cartoony caricature. Based on the short story by Joe R. Lansdale, “The Dump” is about an old recluse whose only friend is a trash-monster that haunts the junkyard. The short stands out because of the insane amount of detail that went into the environment. The character designs are some of the most exaggerated in the anthology and this aesthetic only serves to heighten the absurd humor.

Love, Death, and Robots is currently streaming on Netflix.
