The next era of the X-Men is beginning this July as writer Jonathan Hickman takes the reins of two new titles, House of X and Powers of X. Illustrated by Pepe Larraz and R.B. Silva, respectively, with colors by Marte Gracia, the series will run through September and Marvel Comics has said this will reshape the mutant world forever. Hickman spoke with Comicbook.com to reveal some of his long-term plans for the X-Men as well as a preview of the new titles.
We needed to sell the idea that this is what we’re going to be doing for the next few years. We wanted to be clear to the fans, to the stores, and just as importantly, to the creators who are going to be staffing these books in the future. We wanted the message to be very clear: This is a whole new era for the X-Men. This is what we’re doing now.
Hickman is certainly pointing to the rafters with House of X and Powers of X with new titles and creative teams spinning out of it, to be revealed at San Diego Comic Con in July. He added:
Some [books] will be traditional fare, some carry through on ideas presented in HOX and POX. Some books are completely new concepts.
Comicbook.com also debuted a set of covers for the next two issues of House of X and Powers of X. These series will be released on an alternate weekly scheduled beginning with House of X, so the summer will be filled with brand new X-Men comics.
House of X, is a story about a pivotal month in the history of the X-Men where everything changes for mutants on Earth. And the other, Powers of X, is a story about the history of mutants in the Marvel Universe.
